Following our work for the Young Vic theatre, I was invited to pitch ideas for promoting this ambitious programme of events at the Lyric. We won the pitch and our work has just gone live.
A troupe of ten actors, supported by a team of ten writers/directors etc. are going to be performing six shows over the next year. There will be new pieces and adaptations of existing pieces, but they will be presented simply as Show 1 through to Show 6. Tickets all at one price, will be sold without offering any further information to the audience. If shows are popular their run will be extended, if not then they will end early.
Because Secret Theatre is all about the ten actors and the supporting creative team, with a rare opportunity to work together for so long, I proposed promoting the season with a set of ‘secret’ portraits that partially, or completely, conceal the their identities. I put a bunch of ideas forward for how we could do this and Lyric Artistic Director Sean Holmes, helped to match ideas to personalities, and contributed with some of his own.
I spent two days at the Lyric with photographer and old friend Joe Dilworth, having a laugh and taking some pictures.
